Publication Frequency
The journal is published two times a year.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Copyright
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons License CC BY NC SA, which permits users to share, use, and remix the material provide they give proper attribution, the use is non-commerical, and any remixes/transformations of the work are shared under the same license as the orignal.
Journal Indexing
Author Fees
The Journal of Indian Ocean World Studies does not charge Author Processing Charges (APCs) or any other author charges.
Archiving
The JIOWS is deposited in the following digital archives to guarantee long-term digital preservation: LOCKSS; PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
Editor Submissions
The editors of the JIOWS are permitted to submit articles and book reviews for publication in the JIOWS. 3 years or 6 issues (whichever is longer) must nevertheless pass between each editor’s submissions.
Revenue Sources
The JIOWS is supported by the Indian Ocean World Centre, McGill Univeristy and the McGill University Library.
Advertising
The JIOWS does not currently accept advertisements.
